An Interesting Contrast between the UK Delta wave and the US Delta wave

August 11, 2021

We jumped the gun on the collapse of the UK Delta variant wave. The UK delta wave has not collapsed, but instead has hit a plateau at about 30K daily cases -- the equivalent (when accounting for population size) to 150K cases in the United States. It's difficult to imagine that happening in the US -- sitting at a plateau of 150K cases per day. I was curious and went back to look at the most recent age-specific data from the UK. The difference is that their schools are closed and ours are opening.
